Lavender
Bulgaria has a very rich history of growing lavender.
The culture was imported to Bulgaria in 1907. and began to be grown in the Experimental Rose Field in Kazanlak. This culture is found especially in the regions of Plovdiv, Pazardzhik and Blagoevgrad, and recently it is widespread throughout the country.
The cultivation of the crop in the past was concentrated in the areas close to distilleries. As farming areas are now expanded, distillation is not a limiting factor because mobile distilleries are being used or small ones are being built on private farms.
The essential oil is a clear, mobile, yellow liquid with a fresh and delicate lavender scent.
